Employee Fitness Programs


Physically active employees represent a healthier society. Currently, several companies and organizations in the United States, Japan and other countries are beginning to recognize the importance of physical activity and the employees were physically active effect to increase the productivity of the organization. Studies have shown that physically active employees have less stress levels and have low job-related tension. As a result, they are rich in energy and confidence for greater productivity, lower health risks, lower cost insurance, turnover and high power density. Therefore, many companies are trying to implement fitness tests and training programs in the program benefits the company.

A fitness program for employees successfully, three factors are essential. These include promotion, support and supply. Companies need to promote the importance of physical fitness of employees using different means such as seminars, brochures, audiovisual tools, contests contests and newsletters. This should be a continuous process. Next aspect is support of the company. The company may provide incentives to employees who are physically fit and do better in the organization. This is the power supply. Facilities such as flexible working hours, subsidized memberships in the club nearest fitness center and a fitness coach with a full-time physical must be provided by the company. Exercise program should be accessible to all.


A training program for employees does not require the company to invest millions of dollars to build a gym or buy expensive fitness equipment. Only larger companies have funds to install a fitness facility. Small businesses start with whatever resources the company. Some options include suggesting employees to use stairs instead of taking the elevator, group walking during lunch, yoga group at the end of the day, installation of showers in the office and relaxed working hours so that employees have time for physical activity.
